Commission: Final Cut Pro one-on-one tutorial

Today I had a one-on-one tutorial with Fergus Moloney in order learn about how to use Final Cut Pro. It is to my understanding that the editing industry uses various editing softwares including Premier Pro, Avid, Sony VEGAS, and Final Cut Pro. Because different companies use different softwares, I would like to try and gain a greater understanding of the different softwares. I am already well familiar with Premier Pro, and the jump between 'Final Cut Pro' and 'Premier Pro' is pretty big and confusing, so its good to learn early. Because I was familiar with Premier Pro the first step was to set up the keyboard preferences the same. One thing that is confusing about Final Cut Pro is the way you import footage into the timeline; you can just place in different organised sections like in Premier Pro, you have to create your own, and the keys to import are not relevant to what they're importing, and adding footage to the timeline is a basic essential. In my commission, I will only be creating a promotional video and a shortened down version for the web banner. The studios are also commissioning three 20 second videos of their different specific assets, which I'm doing as a separate project outside of uni. If they like my promotional video enough to use, I will create these 20second clips and produce/edit them in a similar style. Whilst making a proposal treatment for the video and web-banner, I decided to also make one for the 20second clips:

Colours (purple, blue and yellow) all mix together and join up to create 'M' This 'M' then zooms out of screen (3D effect in Adobe After Effects) Move onto smooth entry of the studio reception. (Equipment: Sliders, Tripod and 4K Camera). Heritage: SINCE 1979 Quad Split of various old shows playing. Archive photos fade old studio from late 70s-early 80s into it currently. Edit archive photos to look 3D and show depth of field like in the photo to he right from a short film 'Joy Frank'. The male on the right fades away. The photo also has depth which is weird in an old photo as cameras wouldn't have had that capability then. Here is a rough example of what the pictures will fade to- Old to New.
