When I first took on this project, I knew casting would be an issue. I was required to get 5 males and one elderly female. In my interpretation I wanted to make some of the male cast younger. My reasoning behind this was that I felt someone younger would not have the same kind of respect for Mrs Wilberforce as someone who is more mature would. Their impression of her is a dotty old lady, who they can pull the wool over her eyes. I also wanted to portray them as not being violent thugs, but nymph young people who are trying to find an easy way to get money, but fail dramatically. I sorted actors who wanted to take part as it is something to put on their showreel, and had worked with them before so was pretty confident they will be able to pull the roles off. However, after speaking to Simon, I realised that it is not my job to re-cast. This unit is about directing, not re-writing, so it would make more sense to have an older cast of the ages of those in the original film.
I then went straight away to re-cast. I put an advert up on Casting Call Pro, and messaged some of these actors privately/personally to ask if they would like to be involved. I got some good responses after this, and many of them had heard of the film.
After casting, I needed to ensure the cast were all up to date wth everything and what they were doing. I did phone some individuals to clarify what was happening. I also felt speaking to them on the phone allows one on one communication so we get to know each other and they are therefore hopefully less likely to back out at the last minute if there is verbal communication.

The crew for my project consists of myself and a friend of mine, Liam Alexandru. Liam has had experience, mainly in live theatre so I knew I could trust him to cope well under pressure. I will show him around the equipment so he knows what he is doing; if he has any problems he can always refer to me as we will be working on set together.
that's brilliant! if you can keep this cast on board - really well done!
