As Live Production: Rehearsal

During todays workshop we successfully managed to have around 5 full run-throughs of the show. For the morning half we were very rough but as we worked on it throughout the day we soon picked up on it. We had almost everything we would have in the live show including the actual presenters, models, and had some very useful stand-ins.

The reason the first run through was so rough was because of a multitude of factors. The first being that we hadn't had a rehearsal in about three weeks, so much of what we learned previously had been forgotten in terms of staging. I was fortunate in that I wrote most of my camera movements in the script. However, as the show is being perfected many of these moves changed.

Del sat us down as a group and gave his feedback. This was where we spoke as a group to work out some of the issues we were having. We went through some problems as a group (like unsteady cameras) and then went again to rehearse hopefully taking the feedback on board.

I was particularly grateful for this feedback and got to work on it in the next run through. This run through went a lot smoother, it wasn't yet perfect still however, so we needed to keep the feedback on board to try and figure out a way for it to run even better. If we keep polishing and learning from feedback from Del, contributors and even other.
The following is the recording of our final rehearsal run-through for the day and there is still a lot we need to work on.

My first qualm is the finishing shot of mine from behind the audience (29.25). I think it's too static and just doesn't work very well as it doesn't really show much off. I suggested to the directors we have a track or jib but according to Gavin it's a health and safety hazard to leave them at the back, and pointless for being used once. I then suggested it was used more than once and could be used for the back shot when Alfie interviews audience and also as an opening shot at the start but health and safety was still an issue regardless.
I feel like if the track or jib was used in the opening shots of the show it wouldn't cause any issues as our camera (camera 2) isn't used much here and the static shot could be replicated by any of the cameras.
