Documentary Unit: Social Media Expert
Since we want to look into the social media aspect of this topic after our feedback from Zoe and Helen after our pitch, we looked up any social media experts based in the UK. We found a woman called Jodie Cook on 'LinkedIn'.
Jodie is one of the UK's leading experts in Social Media. She built up a Social Media agency back in 2011 and the company and her reputation has since grown. Jodie works with both company and education based companies. Her agency (JC Social Media) is one of the largest social media specialists in the UK and offers Social Media Management and training for their customers.
Social Media has become such a huge part of our lives, which has had a knock on affect with businesses; most successful ones can be found through social media, and is just a click away from our laptop or smartphones.
We thought that Jodie would the perfect candidate to interview. When we contacted her agency, we were put straight through to Jodie. After explaining the project she was very interested in helping but suggested one of her colleagues to be interviewed rather than herself. This lead us to her colleague,
David Glenwright. David is a social media expert who works for JC Social Media. He's one of the main trainers for the company. Jodie though him ideal for his background in war studies. David has a degree in War Studies. So, he'd have a much stronger opinion of these selfies and could also help to answer whether he feels that we, as a young generation have become numb to the events of the Holocaust and how social media/selfie culture may be to blame. David was selected this year by Facebook to be one of only 8 trainers in the UK to be flown to their Dublin HQ to receive specialist training under the ‘She Means Business’ campaign.
Jodie gave us his contact details and Trine kept David updated and on board. But, David has already mentioned that he is based in Birmingham. This was a slight inconvenience given the distance it was to travel, however, after discussing the options as a group, we und it would be cheaper for us all to go up to Birmingham via car, s paying for Davids travel to London would be an additional expense we can't afford.
