Documentary Unit- Shoot Day 2

 Holocaust Survivors

Today we traveled to London again to meet and interview Holocaust Survivors. We were originally wanting to drive there as it was convenient for equipment. However, we realised that if we wanted to be there in time, we would have to leave unnecessarily early to avoid, account for traffic. We decided to get the train which cost us about £12 each. Unfortunately Simon missed the train as a result of being stuck in traffic on the way to Rochester station. We had to make a split second decision wether or not to board the train with out him or all of us be late. In the end we had to leave him behind. We contacted him explain, and give him the details on the train journey, where to get on/off etc. He was able to meet us at the centre. When we arrived to the Jewish Centre we signed in and were told Aviva is running late from traffic. After waiting an hour or so, we had no news until the reception came to find us and informed us we were in the wrong building. The survivors centre another building (still a part of Jewish Care). This caused instant panic but we all remained calm, and worked out where to go from there. After finding out the other centre was only 20minutes away, we worked out the bus route and made our way. This gave us the opportunity to film Kamran on his journey there, which we were missing. We have learned from our mistakes here, and I've learned to always triple check the location. I did try and confirm the address but unfortunately there was still confusion from both sides. We were all resilient and remained calm i  what was an incredibly stressful time.

We arrived at the centre, and apologised for being late. Luckily the centre was understanding, and gave us an office to film the saviours interview in. The set-up took us roughly half an hour in total, which was very tight for time. We managed to film all three survivors, and the footage looks good. A fail I did encounter when filming was the camera stopped when after 30minutes. This was mid interview, a crucial time so I resolved the problem by inserting another SD card quickly. Because this was a three camera setup, we didn't lose any coverage in this short space of time.
