Transitions: Posters

"Yes, a movie teaser is used to promote a movie trailer. ... Its is the most important feature of a movie. It's the main design element that captures a persons' interest. The challenge is to design a poster that has the right balance, which conveys the movie's theme"

-Tiffany Unscripted

In preparation for third year, I decided to have a go at making the posters to advertise the film. I used stills from the recording and edited them in Photoshop to make a couple of film posters. Researching into both film and television posters I gathered the key elements and key information together that an advertising poster needs, for example the title, actors names and credits. When editing I want the poster to have a tense atmosphere of confusion, mystery and suspense which I think the still I have selected to use does that, but to create a tense atmosphere even more I used a grey hue over the top of the still. Using both a grey hue and stills that doesn't give to much away about the show for a poster, gives the viewer an insight to the action and atmosphere they will be experience when they watch the show. I am happy with both posters and think they add an element of intrigue to what it's about.

Poster 1
Poster 2
Looking at both posters each poster gives an insight into what The Wrong Mans is about but not giving to much away that is takes away the mystery of the show. Even though both posters doesn't give to much about the show and adds to an element of mystery, poster 2 give more away about what happens in the show than poster 1. This is because poster 1 the main image is of Phil and Sam looking shocked and scared, staring into the distant while a man in all black holding a white blind fold is stood behind them. This main image makes the viewer wonder and become curious to find out what has caused their facial expressions and what situation have they gotten themselves into, which draws the viewer to watch the show so that they'll find out. Whereas poster 2 gives away more about the show and who Phil and Sam is staring at which is a big event in the show. Even though in poster 2 this big event is given away slightly, it still adds to the mystery of what is going on as the main image will get the viewer to wonder who the guy is and why does he look so intimidating which will led the viewers to watch the show to find out.
