Transitions: POV Inspiration
As Director, I really wanted to incorporate the use of POV (Point of View) in my shots to make the audience feel immersed into the piece and to make them empathise for Sam and Phil being put in this intimidating, life threatening situation.
This was inspired by the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 16 'Last Day on Earth', where Daryl wares one. This was used throughout most of the episode, which came across as very effective and I feel for our own piece its something we could incorporate. It may even add to the humour of the piece.
In research I came across this scene and it was similar in many respects. It wasn't a blindfolded scene, but they were POV shots from inside the back of the van, which had the agh beaming through these small bullet holes.
Director of this episode Greg Nicotero, who has also worked on Sin City (something very stylistic, especially in its color grade), would've intended this POV for the audience to feel intimidated by Negan, especially with him holding a dangerous weapon. Making the audience feel vulnerable ups the tension in the scene and this is something I would like to attempt when directing 'The Wrong Mans' interrogation scene. The fact that tis scene and my scene are both shot at night where its dark also means that characters and audiences senses are heightened.

The Coen Brothers work is so broad it covers westerns and gangster flicks to comedies and film noir. Given that thats the case it can be very difficult to work out the specific style of the two. While there are reoccurring themes and ideas in their works, its not easy to see visual similarities given their genres are so varied. However, one stylistic element that is usually prominent is the POV shot. "The Coens tend to utilize the POV shot to better submerse us in a scene, but the shot is often used to simply give us a unique perspective that can only be created through cinema." (Vimeo, 2018). To be able to submerse our audience into the scene would be really beneficial to the viewing, and really puts the audience in Sam and Phil's shoes.

Another director or directors the inspired the idea of using POVs to immerse my audience are the Coen Brothers.
