As Live Production: Presentation

“Join us for our new pilot TV show ‘Politically Incorrect’, a show that guarantees, laughs, loathing and ludicrous behaviour. The show gives a satirical and alternative view on current affairs, public figures and what’s going on in the world today. So if you enjoy a funny, lively topical debate please come along, we would love to see you. ”

The show gives a satirical and alternative view on current affairs, mocking public figures and whats going on in the world today both politically and socially. Its in a ‘Top Gear’ style with a sort of ‘Have I got News for You’ and ‘The Last Leg’ theme.
The target audience is young/middle aged people, which seems like a big variation. However, we feel this show has a mass appeal.
We will have three presenters who’s personalities bounce off each other.
Two comedians and one more serious but witty presenter (to keep them in order and things moving).

The costumes for this are to be smart/casual.
This is to appear not as serious and uptight usual political shows, but there’s a lot of truth said in jest. The topics we discuss aren’t always to be taken lightly.

Segments

Democracy of Hypocrisy

Hypocrite of the week! Select three recent stories of public figures (including MPs) being hypocrites.

Mayer of Bristol announced he was going to allocate 2.3 million pounds of tax payers money to putting 13,000 20 mph signs across the whole of Bristol, only to then get caught speeding… He later stated that he commends Avon and Somerset Police for being so vigilant and catching him.

VT

VT: Fake News Team (The Independent Telegraph Watch Anchor News). Or ‘TITW ANCHOR’ News for short.
They go out in public to ask people questions about recent news (fake), and see what peoples reactions are.
E.G. “Donald Trump and Kanye West met earlier this week to discuss Kanye’s future presidency. What are your thoughts on that?”
Could potentially Interview a politician, similar to ‘Brass Eye’
Crude News

This is a segment of the show dedicated to the presenters discussing recent news stories, big or small.
The rapper Professor Green felt belittled by socialite friends of Millie’s (Ex-Wife), who on one occasion chose to ‘fist bump’ him as a greeting rather than shake hands, as they had with all the other guests.

Celebrity Soap Box Corner

Because the show is regarding political/social topics, current and topical affairs it would make sense to have a segment in the show to discuss 'Pet Peeves' as it were.

After working on Watchdog George became friends with the presenters, especially Nikki Fox, who said she would be happy to help with anything in the future. George decided to try getting in touch with her to see if this studio production is something she would be interested in getting involved in. And to our great appreciation she was! She even said she would try and get Matt Allwright and Steph McGovern involved.

VT 2

In the diner we would have a presenter buy some food. It’s overpriced and they get up and walk off screen

Walks on to studio set and says that he/she isn’t the only one to experience this.

Walks into Live recording. Asks who else has experienced this? Asks questions relevant like “At which point too much money is too much?” Discuss a relevant news story.

VT3

Into Experiment:

So we would film in a cafe and have a group of actors (or students in our case) sit there. The person at the till will charge £15 for a coffee. We film the persons reaction. Everyone else acts like thats normal.

The Politicool Wall

This is a section where the presenters bring up recent stories which are either political correctness gone good or political correctness gone mad. They debate between each other where they go on the wall and get the audience involved in the debate

One of London's first female fire commissioners Dany Cotton is on a mission to rebrand ‘Fireman Sam’ to something more gender neutral, like firefighter Sam, so the kids watching don’t grow up with these modern gender biases.
In other News, The Chuckle Brothers no longer wish their gender to be assumed, and shall from now on be referred to as ‘The Non Binary Chuckle Siblings’.

“Women Hold Up Half The Sky,” is a proclamation made by Mao Zedong, mainly to prove that women are a resource that ought to be deployed outside of the homes into the professional fields.”
“64% of women in China work compared with 54% of women in the UK and US.”

“2017 has seen the rise of the term ‘gender fluid’, a concept some portions of society have continue to be challenged by, but one that has seen great strides in its social and cultural understanding – the idea a person doesn’t necessarily identify as having a fixed gender regardless of their biological make-up.”

Competitors

Our show will have no political agenda. We will discuss all politics neutrally, wether it be good or bad from all political parties. According to (yougov.co.uk) ‘The Last Leg’ many political shows on both the BBC and Channel 4 appeal to a predominantly left-wing audience. Whilst this guarantees a certain amount of viewers, we could reel even more people into political debate if we aren’t swayed by just one party. We will be mocking everyone regardless of their political views. If they’ve ‘messed up’ we will talk about that.
In terms of our age range we would hope to appeal to a similar audile as ‘Have I go News for You’, where the majority is middle-aged.
In appealing to both men and women, and appealing to Channel 4s Diversity Guidelines (http://www.channel4.com/media/documents/press/news/24114_C4%20Diversity%20Report_FINAL.pdf) we will have the best presenters we can find. It would be good to have a mixture of male and female presenters where their race/background is irrelevant.

Audience

For the show to work and the seating arrangement of the audience (on set)we needed to make sure we had enough people.
We got in touch with the manager of ApplauseStore.com and he backs our idea and is happy to supply our tickets on their website.
This is a international website which is the go-to place to sell tickets for popular TV shows in the UK, America and Australia including the likes of 'Britains Got Talent', 'Take Me Out' and 'The Grand Tour’.

In terms of promoting this on social media we will produce clips every now and then on the build up to the show where the three presenters are discussing recent news and ideas for the show in the board room.

Is controversial, controversy sells

Beyond our comfort zone but achievable
