Storytelling Unit- Editing Workshop| Timeline and Colour Correction
During todays session with Fergus we talked about editing our timeline, and some small edit shortcuts to make it easier if anything needs changing. This would be particularly important for client work, so if the client wanted a clip moved somewhere else on the timeline, it would be easily mover rather than having to alter the entire timeline. We also worked on the editing tools used in Premier Pro such as cut, select, ripple etc. Fergus then gave us all some clips from a scene to edit together. The main objective of this was to work on sound. Because some of the clips had really distorted audio, it was our ob to make it all look usually appeasing to the eyes and also sound good on the ears. For example, this would mean having a close up shot, but the audio from a medium long shot. Although I struggled with this at times, I still feel I coped rather well with the task in hand. In previous films I had made, I would always jump the shot onto the character when they were speaking. However, after speaking to Fergus, I realised this doesn't always have to be the case. For one part of the timeline I had the man speaking but the focus on the woman then it cut to the man midway through speaking.
Next we worked on the colour correction which was more extensive than anything I had worked on before. My knowledge of it was relatively basic. This was then a finalised edit by the end and I have a link to it:
