Commission: Considerations When Filming

Prime Location

This section will show how easy transport links to and from the studio area and local accommodation. I want all this to be shot early in the morning to get crisp shots of a winter morning. A stylised mixture of animation.
ECU tracking a car wheel spinning and moving
Shots of the Train Station; London and maidstone signs, inspired by the opening of Jools Holland
Drone footage of the Studio; will need to be careful where this is shot as don’t want to include the construction currently taking place.

GV’s of London transport; London Underground signs.

The location will be shown visually with a map zoom to sky effect, which will give a good effect, especially if it zooms into the studios with some nice slow motion camera rigged smooth shots of the reception, interior/exterior of the studios.  This bit will be solely edited in after George Wing Television Blogeffects and so I will not need to film here. My only consideration will be to ensure I have the rights to use the map in which I am editing.
In filming at stations I will need to be aware of the public and transport system; especially in London. London is on high terror alert, and so me having a camera out could cause public concern.
According to 'Film London' "Whatever location you are using, no matter how public it seems, it is likely you'll need to notify or get permission from somebody. The impact of failing to inform relevant authorities could result in unnecessary police resources being deployed. It can disrupt your filming and the local community." So just to be sure I would be careful and ensure I contact the appropriate authorities before filming in London. Alternatively as a backup I could find some royalty free stock footage of London transport online; I would need to ensure it was high quality footage.

Versatile Space

Nice cinematic, clean look- shot in super slow motion we see the various versatile spaces, cinematic of dressing rooms, someone doing makeup in a makeup room, coffee machines producing coffee. Fast paced cuts/jittery to look modernistic to suit the studios modern facilities.
  • Dressing Rooms
  • Green Rooms
  • Restaurant
  • Makeup and Wardrobes
  • Production Offices
  • Viewing Suite/Diner

Want there to be focus on the color coronation of the new restaurant, matching the videos color scheme.

I would like to consider the day I film; it will need to be a day where there will be staff around This is especially important for the resultant as I would like to get shots of them making coffee etc. If it gets to the point where I can't film them making a drink or anything then I would have to plan to bring someone else along with me to film them make a coffee or something. However, because of health and safety restrictions, and having to be qualified to sue the coffee machine this may not be possible. These are considerations I should think abut carefully and plan well in advance.

Post Production Facilities

Some nice clean cut shots of the post production facilities; try and keep the lights in in focus to match the logo colours. If accessible it would be good to get some shots of the gallery production team on ‘Take Me Out’ working on the show. I would like to get some ECU shots, panning around the gallery equipment.

The gallery screens would be a good place to do a transition into the next section by having a slow zoom into the screen where the next clip starts.

As a consideration I would need to make sure i have permission to film in the studios and make sure nobody is occupying any of the rooms. When a show is finished the television screens in the gallery will all be taken out so I will need to inform the studio of this and ask to leave them so it would be more interesting to film.

The Studios

The Studio will be the peak of cinematic in this video for its numerous possibilities. This will be shown by opening the doors to the studio and as it opens there is a montage of different modern shows filmed there today. This is to show that as well as The Maidstone Studios history, they are also very much ahead of the times.
The studios will have an animated map of the space which will move around to see a ‘skeleton’ of its space.
The filming considerations here are simple; is there a show filming in the studios and if so can I film. Because of the licensing of the studios, when a company goes to film there they own the studio for that time so if any accident occurs its on them and not the studios.
