Pre-Production: Contacting Police for Prisoner Interview

In order to progress our project further, we decided to call the the police to enquire how we would cop about filming a prisoner and what the sensitivity and ethics are behind this or if it is something within our power to even do.
Jack spoke on the phone whilst I wrote down details of the conversation and information that may be useful to us. The lady we spoke to was very helpful and gave us a boost of confidence in thinking it wasn't something so far out of our reach. She said we need university official paper and write to the management coordinator - Govern secretary

Outline what we are doing sensitivity etc and say "regardless of your response (yes or no) we would really appreciate a return call so we know if we can move it forward or not". We also need to include a tutors contact details and to keep a copy of the letter ourselves.

We were advised to approach the prisoner and write a letter to them alongside our letter to see if they are interested in being interviewed. As long as they are willing we can move forward with our project. It will need to be a good old hand written letter, recorded delivery. Be aware can be three weeks response. If we don’t get a response, call back and say we wrote and just want to see what the response is yes or no to see if we can find an alternative.

Press office:
Ask if we can get their contact details off them.
