News Production: Costume Development
Being the two presenters, me and jack represent our show and it's branding. We walk the audience though each entire episode so it's only right that we have some form of clothing that fitting to the news channel. We talked about what we should have the presenters wearing. On graduation students will dress smart, so we wanted to have a hint of this. However, at the same time we don't want our channel to come across to formal inputs that aren't too serious (other than the new report). This is why we agreed on a 'smart-casual' look. Our clothing would therefore consist of a white shirt, black tie, jeans (blue or black) and some smart shoes.
Because I wanted show a distinction between the more relaxed parts of the show and the serious student nurse interview, I thought a change in clothing would be appropriate so I went for a smart green cardigan/shirt, black jeans and formal suede shoes.
Me and my group also thought it would be good for me to be waring Graduation robes for one of the sections. This was going to originally be the case for the entire production, but we figured later on in planning that it wasn't so necessary. We received the costume which unfortunately didn't come out as well as we initially though tit would, and getting actual graduation robes would cost a lot more, even to hire, so it was wise to change this. It came to £12.99 in total and split between the four of us is hardly anything so if it was to get ruined when I take it off for the scene we need it (introduction to tech) then it wouldn't be a big issue.
